Description

Direct care residential specialists provide loving care to Sunshine residents and clients as part of a team of professionals. Part and full time positions are available in Lucas, Allen and Fulton Counties to work with our residents who have mental retardation and may also have developmental disabilities or mental health issues. These positions include:

_ Residential specialists who work with residents/clients on daily living skills, or provide respite services to individuals needing short-term care;
_ Supported Employment Specialists who help clients maintain employment or involvement in day-time activities;
_ Community Recreation Aides who provide recreational activities on the weekends for individuals who live at home with their families.

Requirements

No prior experience is necessary, but you must be at least 18 years of age and have:
_ High school diploma or GED
_ A valid Driver's License
_ Good driving record - No more than 2 moving violations in last 2 years
_ Ability to lift sixty (60) pounds
_ Ability to pass a mandated criminal background check (Note: A criminal background check is required for all employees.)

Knowledge of sign language and experience with individuals with MR/DD and a background in mental health or criminal justice is helpful but not required. Individuals with CNA/STNA backgrounds have many of the same skills and abilities we look for. Sunshine offers an excellent orientation program, on the job training and continuing education programs.

Typical Wages

Currently, hourly wages start at $8.27 to $9.59 depending on previous experience and training. There is a $0.75 per hour shift differential for weekend and early morning shifts. A $1 per hour attendance bonus is offered after six months. Raises are available at regular intervals.
